XTENEX Running Laces

Guide to lacing your shoes properly using XTENEX running laces

NO NEED TO UNTIE OR RETIE LACES AGAIN!

About XTENEX

An exciting and ingenious technical shoe-lace FREE LACE is now available in the UK. It is ingenious because of its simplicity as well as its practicality.

It was developed in France last year and has a world patent and registered trademark.
Since its launch, there has been an amazing reaction to this product, and there are now top sportsmen from many high-demand disciplines using the lace in their shoes.
Many world class athletes and triathletes have switched to Free Lace as a result of the extra comfort gained while running.

Famous shoe trademarks have already noticed the superior qualities and advantages of the technical lace Free Lace. They have asked Free Lace to develop partnerships with them in order to promote their new products or to participate in major events side by side.

What is XTENEX?

Xtenex (indeXed-TENsioning-nEXus) is a worldwide patented lace technology that produces adjustable tensioning between shoe eyelets. This technology addresses the source of footwear related pain and discomfort: lace migration. Lace migration is the gradual movement of the shoe lace toward the forward bend of a shoe, which causes two main problems: Binding; a tightening and restricting pressure at the top of the shoe. This can lead to foot fatigue, pain, numbness and restriction of natural foot swelling. It loosens the fit around the footwear’s metatarsal area, which causes increased slipping and reduction of forward foot stabilization. This can produce heat friction, which often leads to painful blisters.

The unique design of the Xtenex lacing system solves the problem of lace migration. Xtenex laces have an elastic core and a series of knots along the entire length of the lace at consistent length intervals. Stretch the lace and the knots disappear, allowing you to thread the lace through the eyelets. Release the tension and the knots reappear. More knots between eyelets lessens the tension; fewer knots between eyelets increases tension. This technology enhances footwear fit, comfort and performance through its many advantages:

  • The Xtenex Lace expands during natural foot swelling and eliminates foot compression.

  • The lace does not slip — the knots maintain the original fit by restricting involuntary lace movement through the eyelets; increasing comfort and keeping the foot stable in the foot bed.

  • No plastic pieces are needed.

  • Eliminates “dual-compression” impact.

  • A lace shoe is made into a slip-on — Never tie you shoe again!

  • Asymmetrical lacing — the shoe upper can be molded to the natural non-symmetric form of the foot by independently adjusting the tension between each set of eyelets. The unique ability to have different tension zones along the entire lacing system results in a custom fit every time.

  • Enhanced lateral stabilization is achieved by increasing the tension along the left or right side of a shoe upper. This aids to stabilize and support the foot within the foot bed while enhancing footwear and foot care technologies such as orthotics, arch supports and insole technologies.

What are professionals saying about Xtenex Laces?

Indexed tensioning - what does it accomplish?

  • Indexed tensioning is achieved through pre-tensioned elastic nodules in the lace. When laced in the footwear, each knot (index) produces an independent measure of tension between eyelets.

  • More knots between eyelets lessen tension.

  • Fewer knots between eyelets increase tension.

  • The emerging knots maintain the desired fit by restricting involuntary lace movement through the eyelets.

  • Enhanced lateral stabilization is achieved by increasing the tension index along the left or right side of a shoe upper. This aids to stabilize and support the foot within the foot bed while enhancing footwear and foot care technologies.

  • Maximizes foot care products such as orthotics, arch supports, and insole technologies.

  • Never binds or restricts the natural foot dynamics of flex and expansion.

  • You adjust laces only once and they stay in place for life.

Instruction for lacing

Insert tip through first eyelet. Position two hands on either side of eyelet.

Grab lace tip and section and section on the other side of the eyelet. Pull lace to stretch and collapse knots. Move lace through until desired section of lace has been reached. Gently release the lace and knots will reappear.

Continue 1 & 2 until lacing is complete
Remember to lace shoe loosely to start. Adjust tension after lacing.
Leaving more knots between eyelets will produce a looser fit. Less knots between eyelets produces a tighter fit. For best performance allow some give in the lace. The knots need to retain their shape. Tighten to comfort....and never tie your shoes again! Repeat process to untie laces.

Different ways of lacing

The Leave It

Lace it and leave it just like it sounds, you can just lace your shoe and leave the ends "hanging' out".

The Knot It

Simply tie your lace in a not.

The Tuck It

Simply tuck the laces under each side pointing them towards the front of the shoe and you have a clean and finished look.

The Cut And Knock

Once the shoe is laced and worn several times to be sure of adjustment, tie the end into a knot and then cut the loose end just before the knot. Burn (or stick) to agglomerate the loose end. Simple and effective.
